the intention behind leo venus
expansive love & shining without apology
i’ve been thinking a lot about how music becomes a tool for intention, how a song can carry an energy people tap into during prayers, rituals, or the quiet moments where they’re trying to ground themselves. leo venus was created in that spirit.
this song was born from a spark of pure love, but it also came after years of learning what love is not. i’ve dated men who were drawn to my fire & ambition, only to later try to control it, contain it, humble me, or dismiss my personhood altogether. they loved the glow, but not the responsibility of standing beside a woman who shines without asking permission. those experiences taught me how often women are asked to shrink in the name of love.
then i met someone different. he affectionately called me a “superstar” in almost all of our conversations about creativity. on our first date, when i asked him what came to mind when he thought of me, the thing that stayed with me most was that i am “a light that the city needs.” it wasn’t about ego. it was about being seen. it was someone reflecting back the version of myself i had been slowly growing toward, the version i wasn’t always sure the world could see yet. that recognition is woven into this track.
at its core, leo venus is about expansive love, the kind that makes you believe you can do anything & never asks you to shrink. i am deeply blessed to know that love through my parents. they will celebrate 41 years of marriage this February, i truly believe a part of their longevity is simple. my daddy has always let my mommy do her thing.
he has never tried to control her or dim her light. he has always uplifted her, supported her dreams, & treated her goals as something sacred. real men are not threatened by women who can get it on their own, women with vision, ambition, & a life that extends beyond family alone. my dad embodies the divine masculine in the way he honors the divine feminine, their partnership showed me early on what expansive, respectful love looks like.
that is the spirit inside leo venus.
it is a song to play when you are calling in love that lifts you instead of shrinking you. when you need confidence before a job interview, a night out, or simply moving through the world. when you are trying to remember who you are or rise into who you are becoming.
i made leo venus as an invocation of self-love, magnetic energy, & the courage to shine without apology. i wanted it to be a sound you can pray with, manifest with, get dressed to, cry to, & hype yourself up with, a song that works as both mirror & medicine.
if you are looking for a sonic companion for your rituals, meditations, or manifestations, this is the one.
stream leo venus & set your intentions with me ❤️🔥
